Falling with style.

My first post faithful Auspuckers, so cop it sweet. Before I progress however, I would like to say a quick thanks to all that tuned into Auspuck Podcast. It was a blast recording it with all the boys AP and DCOM. They take professionalism to a whole new level. Maybe one day we will let you in on some of our bloopers.

Moving on...

I have tossed up a few ideas in my head, good and bad, about what to communicate to you all today. What is the burning issue in Ice Hockey today? Contracts? Player Fines? What could it be? Well take the jump and see what, in my opinion we need more of today.

Surfing through the many many wonderful corners of the internet, I realised something, there hasnt been a decent Ice Hockey movie since the Mighty Ducks first launched the Flying V in 1992. You could argue that Happy Gilmore is a hockey movie. I argue that if the main character spends all his time playing Golf, it really doesn't fit.

Now, this isn't to say that there aren't any good movies out there. There may be. If you want to bring more media to the game, you want to boost the crowd numbers, we need a blockbuster. We need James Cameron, Sam Worthington and why not chuck in a little Russell Crowe (not that there is a little of him anymore. Wouldn't want to get stuck under that in an emergency.) Russell also has a little experience in the whole Hockey movie game too. A little diddy called Mystery, Alaska.

Lets set it in the outback with a young struggling Aussie battler who just wants to skate. Waiting 6 hours for ice time he sees the girl of his dreams, a young figure skater waiting for her shot in the Olympics. There is an idea right there, lets base it on the 1960 Aussie Olympic team. We cant choose a more recent example, it seems 34th in the world is good enough for now.

So here we are a great movie idea and all we need is a little money to get the ball rolling. I know a guy that knows a girl that knows Sam, so if there is someone out there with the dollars and the gumption, give me a tinkle, lets can make this happen. Good thing there are only 3 degrees of separation in this great sun-burnt country.

So while we wait for the movie business to catch up with the demand resonating all around us, here is a little snippet of what made Ice Hockey movies so great. Thank you Rob Lowe. We love you, cheesy acting and all. At least you can skate backwards.

Its time to bring the spotlight back to the ice. I don't care if you can do a triple axle half twist with chocolate sprinkles. Its boring. Maybe if Figure Skating had fighting, I might be able to stall the flicking of channels for more than a millisecond.

Where are you Hollywood? Australian Ice Hockey needs you!

Youngblood:

Seroiusly though here are my links for the day (sorry for the load times):

So here is how to score a goal. Then another. 11 seconds apart. 2nd one is a screamer.

Still on goalies. In my opinion, I think this is a cracker. The only person that actually thinks this is a great save the commentator. Everyone else, knows Hedberg just fell on his face.

Here is a good one. Brett Sutter charged with assault. Thing is, with that moustache, I am suprised he isnt the one being assaulted daily.

Last one. A great Hat Trick from Stamkos.
